When it was getting dark, I went to the hole-in-the-wall bank at Sainsbury's and got some more money out in readiness for the weekend.

This is a very nice French lady who I have made friends with at the Saturday market. She is standing by the fish stall. She likes me to talk a bit of French with her. She says she is excited at the idea of being on the Internet.

Today we went to Orpington Hospital for the unveiling of the mural commemorating the Canadian connection with the hospital in the First World War. A photo of Stephen's father is in it (even though this was taken in the Second World War), and also Stephen's explanation of it. The cake is a 'Canadian' cake.

Went to the park today but couldn't get in because they are preparing for a firework display tonight. It's Guy Fawks night.

The battery on this cameraphone needs topping up too often. I went into Carphone Warehouse and they said it should last for a thousand recharges, unless reception in my room (where the phone spends most of its time) is poor. Poor reception drains the battery. The reception here doesn't seem very good, so perhaps that is the cause of the trouble.

Ich bin krank seit sechs Tage. Deshalb bin ich heute nach dem Arzt gekommen. Hier ist das Warterraum, und bald werde ich den Arzt sehen. Spater: Er hat mir vielen Antibiotiken vorschrieben. Jetzt (sechs Uhr) habe ich schon zwei Tabletten geschluckt. Hoffentlch bin ich morgen besser.
